Dr. Derksen graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College in 1992 and then worked for a biomedical firm for four years before going back to medical school. He graduated from the University of Minnesota medical School in 2000 and completed his residency training at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Throughout his residency he was extensively trained in complex laparoscopy and Da Vinci robotic surgery, as well as performing extensive research on cox-2 inhibitors and prostate cancer. He is a member of the American Urological Association. In his free time, Dr. Derksen and his wife Leah love spending time with their two children. He also enjoys outdoor biking, skiing, and playing tennis.
